Ask the student to explain each skill and complete a representative problem independently. Mark the skill as Confident, Practice, or Not Yet, then choose a small number of related priorities.
Major Grade 7 priorities include proportional relationships, all four operations with rational numbers, expressions and linear equations, scale drawings and circle geometry, random sampling, comparative statistics, and probability.
Students should be reasonably secure with the major prerequisite skills, especially rational-number operations, proportional relationships, equations, and geometric measurement. Isolated gaps can continue to be addressed during Grade 8.
